October brought lots of change for our little family. After my last post JD had an interview with Branscomb Co. The interview was at their office in Austin, since it was closer, even though the position he was interviewing for was in Corpus Christi. It went well and they called him that night for a follow-up interview in Corpus Christi for the following weekend. They wanted him to come out and meet the other partners and explore the area so they paid for travel and a hotel and tickets to the aquarium. After his interviews they arranged a sitter for Cami and we had dinner with Jim Clancy, the president of the firm, and his wife and a couple associates. It was very nice and JD felt good about how the interviews had gone. We enjoyed a day exploring on Saturday and went to the Portland Ward on Sunday. The ward was so friendly and we really enjoyed the sweet spirit there. The next week was a little agonizing since we thought they were going to decide on Tuesday and let us know, but Tuesday and then Wednesday and Thursday came and went with no word. Friday came and JD had pretty much given up and started looking for more jobs, but he sent an email to Jim Clancy and finally Friday night JD received a call and job offer.
Over the weekend we fasted and prayed and Monday, JD called to accept the offer. We made plans to move and started packing. I worked three shifts that week, the last one being on daylight savings, which means if you work it in the fall you get a 13 hour shift. I was so grateful to have JD home to help. He took care of so many of the arrangements and packing and taking care of Cami. Monday Nov 3rd we loaded up the truck and drove down to Portland. We got there too late to check in to the apartment complex or have movers unload our truck so we crashed at a hotel. It was probably a good thing with all the stress of the day to just have dinner out and get to relax at a clean place and get a good nights sleep before moving in. The next few days were full unpacking, running errands getting things set up and figured out. Wednesday while we were getting groceries, JD gets a message from one of his law school buddies congratulating him on passing the bar!! We were so excited!
We are pretty much unpacked and JD starts work this coming Wednesday. I am going to wait a little while, maybe till after Christmas, to apply for a PRN job to keep up my license and skills, but mostly I am planning on staying home and being mommy!
Celebrating JD passing the bar at K-Bobs in Portland, TX.
Cami loves to "make a funny face"- mommy has to do it too. :)
Ready to move into our new apartment! This was Tuesday morning at the hotel.
Enjoying IHOP after arriving in Portland and checking into our hotel.
Halloween! Better pictures to come..We went trick or treating with our friends the Coons. We will miss them. They were awesome friends!
Cami enjoyed the "play boxes" as part of the move. She was in a "ship" in this picture..
Making a spider web at storytime. We have loved storytime at the West Waco Library with Ms Stacey. We will miss that and time to visit with friends there.
Earlier in October I had a girls night witches party. It was a tradition that some ladies did in Waco and it was fun to have a night to dress up as witches and eat snacks, exchange a gift and just visit and have fun. My sign was my prize this year!
This was the last stop of exploring on Saturday after JD's follow-up interview. It was a really nice park with a walkway out to the ocean. Lots of people fish off the end.
Just some little videos I made of Cami...I obviously need to improve my filming. JD is trying to teach me :)
Enjoying the Aquarium after JD's follow-up interview.
Hitting up the beach in Port Aransas.
Cami being Cami...
Somewhere in the middle of packing and moving Halloween happened. We got to carve pumpkins with our "pew buddies" the Daniels. We had fun eating caramel apples and carving pumpkins. JD "helped" Cami pick her design...and carved it. It is pretty impressive, but took a long time!
My pumpkin was also a little complicated though not as much as Cami's. I was pretty proud of myself. :)
The Wednesday before Halloween was the ward trunk or treat and party.
My little super girl!
We were all superheros this year. I made mine and JD's with iron on transfer paper :)
Enjoying the carnival games
Trunk or treat. Cami thought it was pretty cool to hand out treats after she did her rounds :)
Pictures with the Coons after trick or treating on Halloween.
We feel so blessed with JD being able to find a good job and passing the bar. We are so thankful for all the prayers and support from family and friends and ready to start a new adventure here in Portland! (It is a suburb just outside of Corpus Christi).
